Runner Bulletin Board

If any runner would like to post a message, eg., carpooling, looking for a pacer, training, etc, or has any other info to pass to along to the SD 100 participants, send the info to the RD (scottemills@aol.com) and I will post it for you below:

LOOKING for a PACER (Posted: 5/7/2013):

I am seeking a pacer, or pacers, to help me through the night portion of the SD100, primarily for safety and to help keep me company, awake, and moving in the right direction.

Specific sections I most desire a pacer are the following:

Stonewall Mine to Paso Picacho         5.3 miles

Paso Picacho to Sweetwater               8.1 miles

Sweetwater to Sunrise 2                     8 miles

Sunrise 2 to Pioneer Mail 2                 7.2 miles

I also welcome anyone who can pace from Sunrise 1 to Stonewall Mine (7.6 miles), Pioneer Mail 2 to Penny Pines 2 (4 miles), and onward to the finish.  As of this posting, I do not have anyone firmly lined up so you can do whatever distance or sections(s) you want or are comfortable with.  Any help at all will be much appreciated.

Experience running longer distance (more better, of course) is highly desirable but I'll be happy to consider anyone interested.  Must be reliable, and comfortable running trails at night in cold possibly variable weather conditions.  Course knowledge is a plus.   No need to be particularly fast.  I will be well into my run/walk strategy averaging maybe 14-16 minutes per mile or so, depending on the course section, during the latter half of the race.

While I do not expect any problems, this is my first 100 so everything after the first 50 - 60 miles will new territory which I know will be different.  I have previously run 2 50 milers and a number of 50k's successfully (check out my races/results on ultra signup),  I have recently experienced running overnight, and I am reasonably familiar with most of the SD100 course.   Realistically, I am targeting a 26-28 hour finish time, but will not be disappointed with any finish under cut-off.

Anyone who is interested is welcome to contact me, Weldon Thomson, to discuss more details/info at: email:  weldonthomson@weldonphoto.com or on facebook:  facebook.com/weldonthomson

 Thanks, Weldon
