San Diego 100 Mile Endurance Run

NOTE: Crew Vehicles will need a USDA Forest Service Adventure Pass which must be displayed in your windshield when you park.  Adventure Passes may be purchased at the Mart in Pine Valley or at the Big Laguna General Store off of Sunrise Hwy for $5.  Crews/spectators will also be required to purchase a park pass for access to Paso Picacho and Stonewall Mine aid stations for $8.  One pass is good for both locations. 

 

Crew Driving Instructions to Accessible Aid Stations:

 

  • Al Bahr- mile 0) to Aid Station 1 (Meadows) – mile 7.4 into the race - The 19 mile green mile marker
  • on Sunrise Hwy):

    Leave Al Bahr Start Area and turn right (south) on Sunrise Hwy (S1).  Drive 7.3 miles on Sunrise until you come to the Meadows Kiosk which has an extra lane for parking on both sides of the highway.  Park well off the main road and be careful crossing the highway.  The Aid Station is on the west side of Sunrise.

  • Aid Station 1 (Meadows) to Aid Station 2 (Red Tail Roost) - mile 13.8 into the race - The 22.5 mile green mile marker
  •    on Sunrise Hwy):    

    Leave Meadows and drive 3.5 miles north on Sunrise Hwy to Red Tail Roost.  Crews can meet their runner here if they park on Sunrise Hwy, well off the road on the shoulder, display an Adventure Pass, and walk into the aid station.  Only Aid Station volunteers  are allowed to park in the Red Tail Rooster parking area in compliance with the US Forest Service Permit for this event.   

     

  • Aid Station 2 (Red Tail Roost) to Aid Station 4 (Penny Pines 1) - CREWS ARE NOT ALLOWED HERE; Only Aid Station Volunteers.  This is 23.6 into the race - The 27.5 green mile marker on Sunrise Hwy):
  • Do not park here or your runner may be disqualified.
  • Leave Red Tail Roost and continue north on Sunrise Highway for 5 miles to Penny Pines Parking on either side of Sunrise Highway. The aid station will be on the east side of the Highway.****This is NOT A CREW ACCESS POINT at mile 23.6 this year due to the larger entrant field. It is crew accessible at mile 91.5 Penny Pines 2 because the field will have spread out by then.  Parking is extremely tight in this location....park well off the road and be safe as motorcycles and other vehicles tend to drive very fast in this section of S-1.

     

  • Aid Station 4 to Aid Station 7  (Pioneer Mail 1) – mile 44.1 into the race - the 29.5 green mile marker on Sunrise Hwy):
  • Leave Penny Pines and continue north on Sunrise Highway for 3.0 miles to Pioneer Mail parking area on the right (east) side of the highway. 

  • Aid Station 7 to Aid Station 8 (Sunrise 1) – mile 51.3 into the race - the 34.5 green mile marker n Sunrise Hwy):  Pacers Allowed from Sunrise 1 Aid Station.
  • Leave Pioneer Mail and continue north on Sunrise Highway for 6.0 miles until you come to Sunrise Parking on the left (west) side of the highway.  Pacer can leave their vehicles here overnight. Numerous parking spaces diagonally on either side of Sunrise Hwy. 

     

  • Aid Station 8 to Aid Station 9 (Stonewall Mine – mile 58.9):
  •  

    Leave Sunrise Aid Station and continue north on Sunrise Hwy for 3.2 miles until you come to Hwy 79 intersection.  Turn left onto Hwy 79 and follow the highway for 4.2 miles until you come to a road on the left.   Take this turn which leads you to Stonewall Mine Exhibition.  The aid station is 1.0 miles from the turn off of Hwy 79.

      

  • Aid Station 9 to Aid Station 10 (Paso Picacho) – mile 64.2):  Park Pass costs $8 - this pass can be used to park at Stonewall Mine as well.
  • Leave Stonewall Mine and return a mile to Hwy 79.  Turn left on Hwy 79 and drive .9 miles until you reach the entrance (on the right) to Paso Picacho Campground.  Turn right into the park.  You will need to purchase a day pass.  From the entrance shack, turn at the next right into the parking lot where the aid station is located. 

  • Aid Station 10 to Aid Station 11
  • (Sweetwater – mile 72.3):

    Exit Paso Picacho and turn right onto Hwy 79.  Drive 4.3 miles until you come to Sweetwater Bridge parking on the left side of Hwy 79.  Turn left into the large parking area for access to the aid station.

     

  • Aid Station 11 to Aid Station 12 (Sunrise 2 – mile 80.3:
  • Leave Sweetwater Parking and turn right out of parking and head back north on Hwy 79.  Continue north on Hwy 79 for 9.3  miles miles until you come to the intersection of Hwy 79 and Sunrise Hwy (S1).  Turn right onto Sunrise Hwy (S1) and go 3.2 miles back to Sunrise #2 Aid Station…..turn right into the parking area and aid station. 

  • Aid Station 12 to Aid Station 13
  • (Pioneer Mail 2 – mile 87.5):Turn right out of Sunrise Aid Station and head south on Sunrise Hwy for 5.0 miles until you return to Pioneer Mail Aid Station parking entrance on the left side of Sunrise Hwy.

  • Aid Station 13 to Aid Station 14(Penny Pines 2 – mile 91.5:
  •  Turn left out of Pioneer Mail Parking and head south on Sunrise Hwy for 2.0 miles until you come to Penny Pines 2.  You can park on either side of Sunrise.  The aid station is on the east (left from the direction you came) side of the highway. 

     

  • Aid Station 14 to Al Bahr (Finish Line)
  • :

     Leave Penny Pines and continue south on Sunrise Hwy for 4 miles until you come to the entrance of Al Bahr Shrine Camp on the right side of the highway.  Turn right into the camp.  The runners will finish under the banner at the Al Bahr Lodge.
